gtonight and my little brother seems really excited.

"| really hope his team wins. He's going to be devastated if they lose," | say, attempting to make a conversation.
I don't want him to ignore me. It's not like he's ignoring me, but | just want to make sure that we always have
something to talk about. | want to make the best out of the forty-seven days we have left. Yes, I'm counting.
"I hope he wins too, but even if he loses, I'm going to do my best to cheer him up," he tells me.

Luckily, my brother's team wins and he gets to go hwith a huge smile on his face. But before going home,

and something inside ofshifts at the mere thought. Technically, we live in the sbuilding, so in sway,

"Any specific place in mind?" he asks, and | shake my head, already happy that he's going to taketo get ice
cream. "I know this place. | think you'll like it." How do I tell him that | don't care about ice cream, and | only
suggested that to spend twith him? | want him to know that | miss his hugs and the way he used to kiss my
forehead.
He parks his car in front of a place that seems cozy. | walk with him to the door and my heart sinks when he
doesn't reach for my hand like he used to. It's all my fault and | have no one else to blbut myself, yet it still

"What do you want to get?" he asksas we stand in front of the ice cream display case. | eye the available
flavors and choose pistachio. "Just one scoop? Don't you want something else?"

He orders pistacforand chocolate chip for himself. We sit on the red stools placed in one of the corners of
the shop.
"It's really good. How did you find this place?" | wonder as | lick my ice cream.
"Aniyah saw their Instagram page once and wanted to try them, so | took her," he replies. | nod, not knowing
what else | can say. "There's another gathering at the team's house before Christmas. Do you want to join us?"
"Of course!" Did | sound eager? I'm eager to spend more twith him and while part ofwants him to notice,
the other part doesn't wantto seem desperate.
"By the way, | got you something last Thursday, but | forgot to give them to you," he casually says, managing to
pique my interest.
"Them? As in more than one thing?" | ask.

"What did you get me?" | want to ask why he even gotsomething in the first place, but I refrain from doing
so. It's not because | want him to buygifts, but | truly want any excuse to talk to him. "You'll find out once
we're back home," he says in a teasing tone, makingroll my eyes.
"Fine." | hop off my seat. "Let's go home. I'm done with my ice cream anyway." | grin and he laughs at me.
"You truly have no patience," he comments, still sitting on the stool.
"That's right, so let's $ go." "I hold one of his hands with my two hands and do my best to get him to stand up,
but he doesn't budge. "Why do you have to be twice my size?"
"I'm probably thrice your size, Rosie," he says, standing up. "Which means | can easily do that." | let out a light
squeal when he picksup with one arm.
"I'm so sorry," | blush as | look at the girl behind the counter. I'm glad that there aren't any customers but us. He
doesn't even bother to putdown until we reach the car and when he does, | catch a smirk on his lips. "Am |
that light?" Lhuff, folding my arms. "As light as a feather, Rosie." He chuckles, opening the passenger door for

| think | got lost in my own world for a little while because when the song comes to an end, | find Silas holding his
phone, filming me. | look around and realize that we're not so far away from the ice cream shop. Did he stop
driving to film me? "Yes, | stopped driving to film you, Rosie." He chuckles.
"Did | say that out loud?" | sink into my seat in embarrassment.
"More like murmured it," he points out as he starts driving again. "Do you always throw parties in cars like that?"
he asks with a hint of amusement in his voice.
"Only when I'm in a good mood and there's a song that I like," | reply.
"Glad that | put you in a good mood, Rosie." He grins and | roll my eyes as a short chuckle escapes me.
"Never said you're the reason behind my good mood." | shrug as | tease him.
